INTERMEDIATE 1, 2, AND 3
For experienced students who have been through Ignite! classes or have practiced Iyengar Yoga before.
In all Intermediate classes we begin seated with an invocation to the Sage Patanjali. This is a Sanskrit chant to pay homage to the tradition of Patanjali yoga which goes back for thousands of years. The invocation brings us inward and helps us cultivate humility and reverence for the sacred subject of yoga.
In Intermediate 1, students build on what they have already learned in Ignite!-- basic actions of beginning standing postures, seated postures, and Shoulder Stand. Now it's time to learn back bending, twisting, and how to do Head Stand or an appropriate substitution.
• SCHEDULE: Sundays, 4 to 5:30 pm and Thursdays, 5:30 to 6:45 pm.
In Intermediate 2, we add to your repertoire of basic postures and introduce more complex postures including Padmasana (Lotus posture); variations in inversions; and simple arm balances.
• SCHEDULE: Tuesdays, 5:45 to 7:15 pm
Intermediate 3 is our most advanced class. Regular attendance and home practice is expected. Philosophy is discussed. Permission is required.
• SCHEDULE: Thursdays, 7 to 9 pm.
In all intermediate level classes we also schedule the last week of the month for restorative asanas and pranayama.
